How to choose a flattering cut
I apologise for the lack of posts. I have been feeling very un-inspired lately, paired with lack of time for taking photos of some of the things I do want to show you. Luckily I can always fall back on Alla kvinnors bok and thought these advice on how to choose the most flattering cut for your figure could amuse you. Just decide if you are young or older, then if you are slim or Junoesque and last, if you are short or tall, and you will find what is right for you.
Young and slim
A petite slim figure demands lightweight stiff fabrics, preferably ones that fill out the shape., in vibrant colours and, daring patterns. The cuts should use a lot of fabric with pleats and gathers and with a belt put attention to the waist. Loose wide coats, "fantasy" dresses and soft, longhaired furs.
A tall slim figure needs soft fabric with some volumes in vibrant colours that may be patterned. Clothes should be smooth with some width in the skirts- pleated skirts is especially flattering as is draped cuts in general. The waist should always be in focus. Coats should be belted or 3 quarter length swaggers. Furs shouldn't be to bushy.
Older and slim
A small, slim woman should dress in soft fabrics with some volume in discreet mild colours, patterns should be discreet and small. Soft, draped cuts- make sure the skirts aren't too short. The length of the jackets should harmonize with the length of the sleeves. Coats should fit loosely but not too voluminously, furs should be soft and long-haired.
Soft, lightweight fabrics in discreet and mild colours and small discreet patterns. Clothes can be pleated or gathered. Suits with soft blouses and a cravat is especially flattering. Soft, straight coats with belts or a strap at the back.
Young and Junoesque
A small and stout figure demands heavyweight fabrics, preferably in solid, discreet colours. Princess cuts are flattering and neither jackets nor skirts should be too short. Clothe should fit exactly- make sure to never wear clothe that are too large. Skirts should be plain and straight, not A-line or pleated. Short-haired furs are best.
Fabrics should be heavy, preferably in discreet, dark colours. Clothes should be cut without any excess volume. Skirt should be smooth over the hips, but place some width over problem areas. Suits should be plain and figure-hugging. Short-haired furs.
Older and Junoesque
Both short and tall stout women should wear heavy fabrics in discreet colours. Princess cut or other vertical seams are flattering and the cut should fit exactly without excess fabric. The back should be divided with with one or more vertical seams.
