Green felt hat


Here it is, the green felt hat in action. I am very pleased with it, despite all the problems I had when I made it. One thing I noticed when wearing it that the elastic did nothing to keep the hat on. It just slid on my hair- I guess it would work better if I had had my hair down. Luckily I inherited a few hat pins from my grandmother, so I used one of those to keep the hat in place. Much more becoming than elastic anyway.

    Thank you all! It did turn out so much better than I feared, after having such trouble making it. Which is nice, of course! Now I just need a nice event to wear it at!

    wow, it looks great! I'm so impressed that you were able to decipher those directions. I've had that pattern in my stash for over 2 years, I think. Thanks to your fantastic tutorial, I think I may be able to sew one now! :)

    Det mönstret har jag stått och suktat på länge men inte köpt... Åh så snygg!!!!!!
    Jag har lite tips då jag läste i din andra blogg om problemet att få den att stanna med bara ett nackband i resår.
    Tilt eller topper hat´s som jag skulle vilja påstå att den där modellen tillhör hade ofta ett nackband som inte var elastiskt utan som var gjort i hattens tyg och alltså var styvt. Det ger ett bättre stöd då den måste vara precis anpassad i rätt längd för just ditt huvud. Men med dessa styva nackband är det lite meckigare att sätta på hatten. Ett annat alt är att ta en hårkam (den sorten man fäster upp håret på sidan av huvudet med) och dela den i två med en sax, sedan syr du fast kammen på hattens insida där du tror att du får bäst fäste mot håret. Kammen håller hatten nere och nackbandet hjälper till att hålla den på plats. Det finns också en slags små öglor man kan sy på så du kan fästa den med vanliga hårnålar..Jag har fler tips men de kanske jag inte ska skriva om här och ta upp så mycket plats.

    Lillgull. Jag har funderat på just en kan, men ett styvt nackband är ju också en idé. Nu satte jag fast den med en hattnål och det funkade bra. Jag har inget emot tips- ta upp så mycket plats du vill. :)
